July 26 - August 1, 2010

Monday, July 26. Read Exodus 21:23–25, Leviticus 24:19,20, and Deuteronomy 19:21. What was "the law of retaliation" meant to achieve? How would this law likely be received by a quick-tempered person? By a person with no convictions?

Tuesday, July 27. Read Deuteronomy 19:15–21. What is the significance of this passage in our understanding of the law of retaliation?

Wednesday, July 28.Read Leviticus 19:18, Proverbs 25:21, Proverbs 24:29 and Lamentations 3:30. What characteristic do these verses have in common? What One Person most exemplified these characteristics?

Thursday, July 29. Read Matthew 5:41, Mark 15:21, and 2 Corinthians 5:14. What is the common theme in these verses? What is the difference between the first two and the third?

Friday, July 30. Read Genesis 17:1 and 18:13. The word translated "blameless" is "tamim," which means spiritual wholeness. How can one be blameless or spiritually whole before God? Read Romans 5:5 for the Scriptural answer.

Saturday, July 31. Read Romans 8:1–4. There is no condemnation as long as we remain "in Christ." However, there is conviction—which is designed to keep us where we belong—in Him!

Sunday, August 1. Read Matthew 5:38–42. How do you measure up to these words of Jesus?
